The Jaguar E-type or Jaguar XK-E is a model of car manufacturer Jaguar Cars of which three generations were built between 1961 and 1974. The E-type revolutionized the design, performance and handling of sports cars. More than 70,000 copies were sold in fourteen years. It is not without reason that none other than Enzo Ferrari called this the most beautiful car ever built.

After Jaguar had achieved a number of successes in the 1950s with the Jaguar D-Type at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it was decided to develop a new sports car to replace the Jaguar XK150. The E-Type received a revolutionary body design from designer Malcolm Sayer who had previously designed aircraft for the Bristol Airplane Company. The curves and indentations were not only for decoration, but were precisely calculated aerodynamic shapes.

From 1967 to 1968, an intermediate series with the unofficial name 1 1/2 was built as a transition phase. These models had a close resemblance to the Series 1 but in the end no longer had the glass-covered headlights and other control levers. Gradually, equipment for the successor Series 2 was added while the bodywork always remained that of the Series 1. At Jaguar itself, these 1 1/2\’s simply fell under the Series 1.

The car offered here is an E-type from this intermediate series 1 1/2 and is from year 1968 and was delivered new in the USA, like many of these Jaguars.
The car is technically and optically in good condition and is ready for many pleasure rides. The current owner has owned this car since 1991. It has only been used for hobby purposes.
